Snowflakes, Red noses and home....

In my last post i mentioned that it had been snowing in Ireland, unfortunately I didn't manage to take any photos before the snow melted, leaving an icy trail behind. But on New years eve the snow started again, we only got a fine dusting of snow but I managed to take a few photos the next day to share with you! Which also gave me a good excuse to play about with my new camera! Sorry this is quite an image heavy post (again!)

I had to fly back to Glasgow last night, as I start back to uni this week, But my flight was delayed by two hours because of the weather. When I landed at midnight it was -6C outside! I managed to venture out of the flat today to find that all the footpaths were completelly iced over, it was like walking on ice rink! And with the temperature to drop to -11 this week, I think its only going to get worse! Anyway the photo below is one of the last ones I took before leaving Ireland, I'm not sure if you can see but the pond has completely frozen over. I have been the worst blogger recently, its been absolutely aggggeeess since my last post, and i'm so sorry I haven't even had a chance to reply to your lovely comments yet! I guess the reason I haven't been blogging recently is down to Uni. This year has got crazy, I have so so much work to do, both inside and outside of uni. This is mainly down to my research project which unfortunately wasn't going to well before Christmas...which unfortunately left me feeling quite uninspired in the evenings, which meant my poor little blog suffered!

But...the work is now picking up and I have had a lovely week at home relaxing with my amazing family and friends. I have had such a fun Christmas break, I even got a new digital SLR camera, which i am having fun playing about with. We have also had so much snow the last week, I wish I had managed to take some good photos that I could share with you all, it has been so pretty! How was your Christmas?

Anyway, I thought I would finally find time to do a outfit post!

Sleigh bells ring...are you listening?

Yes its come time to do my first christmas post! I have been busy busy in uni again this week, but at the weekend I went home. It was nice to be able to spend some time with my family and friends. I started to feel really festive, on saturday night me, my brother and sister and some friends went to the continental Christmas market in Belfast. (warning image heavy post...sorry!)

The weather was miserable..pouring most of the evening but we still had a wonderful time. I insisted we went on the carousel (even if we were the oldest on it!) But it was so much fun

Then we wondered around all the stalls, looking at all the lovely things they were selling..there were stalls selling hats, jewellry, cakes..everything really.

I loved all the onions hanging from the top of this stand....

And I thought the lights on the top of this stall were so pretty. This stall sold "meats of the world" which included kanagroo and wild boar. I didnt try anything, I just thought the lights were pretty!

My brother bought me this amazing muffin from a different stand though, which was topped with marshmallows..It was so big it took me two days to finish it! But it was amazing! (Thank you, again!!)

I am now feeling very festive and can't wait to finish uni in two weeks to go home and celebrate!

Ah, sorry it’s taken me so long to post the second half of my question and answer. I was hoping to get some time to do it last week, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to and then my parents were over this weekend for a wee visit. It was lovely seeing them, as I haven’t seen them since I moved back to Glasgow for Uni in September. We went shopping, out for dinner and then just relaxed with a movie. It was lovely! How was your weekend?

Would you rather wear a beautiful ball gown or ugly sweat pants for the rest of your life?

Oh no this is too hard! I would feel so overdressed if I went into uni or into town in a ball gown everyday but I would feel so underdressed wearing sweat pants all the time, imagine going for a night out or to a wedding in them! I think I would probably go for sweat pants though, they are soo comfy and maybe I could try and make them look ok with nice shoes and tops?

What do you do on a bad hair day ?

Ah good question! I usually look at it and think.. hmm I can fix this, I will just backcomb it some more...when that doesn’t work (which usually happens). If my fringe is misbehaving I usually end up putting into a quiff, or if just my hair in general I tend to pin it up. (sorry about the bad mirror picture...I found taking a picture of the back of my head pretty hard!)

Favourite singer of all time?

I don’t think I could ever pick just one singer, So I will give you my top 4 bands. In no particular order; Muse, Incubus, Biffy Clyro and Hundred Reasons.

What's something most people don't know about you or would be surprised to find out about you?

Well, you know the way I told you I was a bit of a tomboy, well this combined with many many years of horse riding, and my general accident prone behaviour has led me to break my arm on three different occasions, each time in a different place.

How old are you?

I’m 21! I usually get told I look younger, and in fact I still get asked for ID when i’m going out or in a bar. I guess looking young has its advantages though!

What will you do if you have to stay at home and can't go anywhere ?

Make a pot of tea, grab a blanket and fill a hot water bottle and curl up with a good book. I can get lost in a book for hours, days even.

Are there any items in your closet you can't wait to pull out for winter ?

Yes! I just bought a new grey faux fur coat which I can’t wait to wear out! I was going to post pictures in a later post but now I have mentioned it, I can’t wait to show you!

What are your favourite shops to shop at?

I love Topshop...I always have and I imagine I always will! I just love their clothes and jewellery not to mention their tights and shoes. I also love Primark, you can sometimes find some lovely clothes for a bargain!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever heard

Everything happens for a reason. It is my motto in life, when things don’t turn out as expected or once hoped I just think this is all happening for a reason. For example as part of my course last year I did a placement year, I went for an interview with this company that I really wanted to get a placement with. I didn’t hear back for ages and when I did they said they were unable to offer me a place, I was quite disappointed but thought it was all happening for a reason. Then a week later the same company called me but a different lady in a different department, she said she had seen my application and wanted to offer me a place in their department! I took it and ended up in the same department as one of my best friends from uni, with some of the nicest people I have ever meet, the best supervisor I could have asked for and had a wonderful year.

If you could buy any three winter items (no matter what the price) what would they be?

Oh I really want a new hat, I have my eye on a red beret that has a lovely big red bow on it. I would also love another pair of boots, I saw a gorgeous brown studded pair of flat ankle boots the other day, which I think would be a good addition to my wardrobe. And finally...can I just say LOADS of new knitwear please!!

What is your favourite outfit?

I don’t think I have a favourite outfit to be honest, It depends on where I am going or what mood I am in...today I really wanted to wear sometime warm and comfortable (which is happening to me quite a lot in this cold weather!) This is what I wore today , I do like this outfit though, I like the colours of the top and cardigan. And I am wearing vintage chains that I inherited, which I love!

If you were stuck on a desert island for 5 years what 5 essential items would you bring?

I really like this question and have had to give it a lot of thought. So here we go;

1- Sunglasses (with my prescription lenses) so I could see in the sun

2- Lipbalm (to stop my lips drying out in the heat)

3- My laptop (For some music and entertainment)

4- A solar powered power supply (I really hope this exists!)

5- Can I also please bring the boy in the photo below, please??

Well First of all thanks so much for all your wonderful questions! I never expected to get so many brilliant questions so I have decided to split it into two parts!

How did you come up with your blog name?

I have what has been described as an “unhealthy” addiction to tea and I love drinking it from teacups and saucers, especially if I am feeling a bit down for some reason it always cheers me up, I can’t explain it. But any way when I first set up my blog I was drinking tea, from a teacup, so I just thought, why not?!

I love tea, too:) I was wondering...Which type of tea is your favourite and what is your favourite brand?

On a normal day I will drink a lot of normal tea or English breakfast tea, I like it black with a sprinkle of sugar. I’m drinking a lot of tetley tea at the minute, as it is not too strong. But before I go to bed I love a cup of peppermint tea (Twinings), if i’m stressed or worried about anything then I reach for the camomile and spearmint tea (Twinings) and if i’m feeling a bit sick I go for honey, lemon and ginger tea (freshly made).

What are your favourite blogs?

This is quite a hard question! There are so many blogs that I love reading. But postsecret has to be my favourite blog . The first thing I have done every Sunday morning for the about the last two years is check in and read the new secrets. I can’t explain to anyone who hasn’t come across this blog, how much I love it or even why, but after you check it out I’m sure you can understand. I also love all the usual fashion blogs.

What are your hobbies outside of studying and blogging?

In my little free time I love reading, for me there is nothing that can compare to a really good book. I get fully pulled into books, to the point where if someone talks to me I can’t even hear them and I end up dreaming about the story. Apart from that I love baking as well, I love making cupcakes, fudge and buns as a surprise for my friends and family

Your current hair colour is so amazing, it really really suits you like but I'm curious...What is your real hair colour?

First of all thank you! As for my real hair colour, it is one of those really awkward colours to describe. It is that in between colour, when you can decide to either go blonde or brunette, I decided a few years ago to go blonde and since then it is got more and more blonde until I have ended up at this shade, quite by accident to be honest! While trying to find a photo for one of the later questions in this post I came across this photo, my natural colour is the darker colour underneath, Not the best photo but it shows my natural hair colour.

What course are you studying in school?

I’m in my final year of studying for my masters in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry. It is pretty much a Chemistry course but with a few extra modules thrown in. It is hard work but it is good fun and pretty interesting. Most people don’t expect me to study Chemistry!

What is your favourite item in your closet?

I don’t know if I could actually pick my one favourite item, but this dress is definitely one of my favourites. This is the dress I wore to my school formal a few years ago. My school formal was a bit like prom I guess, It is in our final year of high school when we get all dressed up, get limos, drink champagne and go to a hotel for a meal and a dance. I have worn it to a couple of other formal dances since then, actually this photo wasn’t taken at my formal, but was taken a year later at a friend’s formal. I don't know if you can make the print out or not but it has birds and the eiffel tower on it, click the photo to make it larger if you want to see.

Tell us something you have never told before on the blog!

Living in the middle of the countryside with mainly boys as neighbours and friends meant I was a bit of a tomboy growing up, I would still wear dresses, skirts and carry handbags, but I would play football, rugby, ride around on my bike and climb trees.

Do you have a boyfriend?

I don’t actually have a boyfriend at the minute.

What is the most romantic thing someone has done for you?

Oh this is a hard question to answer! None of my ex-boyfriends have been that romantic, but my last boyfriend could be quite sweet. He used to have to get the train into town to see me or later when I moved away for the year he flew across to see me, anyway he used to always leave his tickets in random places around my room for me to find. I would find them days later hidden on shelves or my desk. I found his last plane ticket months after we broke up under my bed. I don’t know if this really counts as romantic but it used to always make me smile.

What or where is your most favourite place in the world and describe it too

I think my favourite place in the world has to be the North Coast of Northern Ireland. My parents have a holiday apartment there, it looks over the bay. I love walking along the beach, breathing in the fresh air, spending my days body boarding and my evenings curled up on the sofa watching the waves crash onto the beach and the sunset over the bay. Every time I go there it fills me with memories.

Rain rain go away....

I know I talk about the weather a lot, but it has not stopped raining here all week. This is the one downside with winter, the rain! I like the cold, I like the frost, I like the snow, but I'm not a fan of the rain!

Anyway, Enough aboout the rain. I went to meet up with a friend last night and this is my outfit. I really wanted to wear this old topshop jumper cause its nice and cosy but didn't fancy wearing jeans, So i decided to wear this primark skirt.

I love this skirt, because of the big bow on the front! I love bows, they are so cute.

I have been so busy this week and especially yesterday, so I didn't fancy doing much with my makeup, I just kept it simple with some silver eyeshadow and some red lipstick.

I had such a nice suprise when I logged on today, I have reached 50 followers! wow! I never thought when i started this blog any one would even want to read it, but your encouraging, sweet comments have made blogging so fun. I have decided as a bit of a thank you to do a QUESTION AND ANSWER, because I have enjoyed reading Q&As on all your lovely blogs.

I have been so busy this week! In uni everyday from 9 to about 6:30, it’s been so crazy! I meant to do a post last night but time got away from me. This is the outfit I wore to class yesterday, Once again I was wearing loads of layers and trying to keep as warm as possible...

Today was one of those mornings when I realised winter really is upon us. I woke up and my whole face and nose was cold and I just wanted to stay in bed for the rest of the day. When I finally got up and pulled my curtains I saw a thin layer of frost coating everything outside, the thing I love about the frost and the snow is that everything looks so fresh and new. It makes me think anything can happen because what was already there has been covered up by this beautiful white blanket.

Walking to university was so pretty, everyone was wrapped up all warm with rosy cheeks and noses. Unfortunately my lecture halls were all freezing today, it felt like the windows had been left open all weekend or maybe they had forgotten to put the heating on!

Thankfully, I was all wrapped up in my warm clothes! So, Yeah as you might have guessed I dressed to stay warm today more than anything else!

The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,

should ever be forgot.

Tonight in the UK is Guy Fawkes Night sometimes called Bonfire Night or Fireworks night, whatever you call it it means the same thing to many of us....Fireworks! For those of you who are not from the UK and might not have heard about this, It is a annual celebration which marks the downfall of the Gunpowder plot of 5th November 1605, in which a number of people including Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London.

On the night of the 5th many places put on big fireworks displays. So tonight me and my friends went into town for some pizza after uni and then went down to Glasgow Green to watch the fireworks display.

We had a lovely night, the dinner was lovely and we had fun with the sparklers and the fireworks, but i did notice the fireworks only lasted 20 mins this year instead of the usual 30 minutes, which was a bit sad. This is also why my photos arent great I was waiting for the big ones at the end but before I knew it, it was all over!

At least we still had some sparklers.....

It was such a lovely night, weather wise as well. It was a cold, crisp evening an excuse to get the scarves, mittens and earmuffs out but there was no rain. The Autumn leaves were still covering my street as I walked home, making me think I was following the yellow break road...xo

Trick or treat??

Yes that's right my lovely loyal followers I am back! Thanks so much for wishing my laptop a quick recovery unfortunately it wasn't to be...after a very long couple of weeks and the help of the sweetest man from my university (chocolates will be given!) it was found that my laptop was beyond repair! :( But thankfully today I got a new laptop. It's barely out of its box and I'm back. Can't wait to catch up on all your lovely blogs.

But anyway enough about that, Saturday was Halllooooowwweeeeennnn. I love Halloween, I love dressing up, I love the fireworks, I love the sweets, I love the pumpkins, really I love it all! I decided for my (rather late) Halloween post I would show you my halloween costumes for the past three years! I usually try to make at least parts of the costume, it adds to the fun I think.

So, here we go, Halloween 2007 was all about Robin, from Batman and Robin!

Halloween 2008 was all about the classics...with the original witch.

And this year...well this year was all about comedy..time to have a laugh...and what better way than dressing like a clown. I will admit clowns do scare me a bit so I tried to be as non-scary as possible! I love my big trousers, they are a pair of PJs that i stitched a hula hoop into.

So, I wanted to send out a wee message to let you know that my lack of blogging and commenting on your lovely blogs has been due to my lack of a working laptop. Mine has unfortunately decided to have a bit of a tantrum, and hasn't been working for a few days. I'm hoping it just needs a bit of love and attention and will be working soon, allowing me to get back to blogging. Hopefully, after it has a rest and some pampering it will be back to full health. Until then i guess things will be pretty silent from me as I had to run to the library between classes to post this!

I felt it in the air today, that crispness that makes you suddenly aware that winter and its frosty friend is on its way. I saw my breath as I walked to class today and it made me wonder when will we get the first frost? Will we get snow this year?

I guess I might be a bit early in thinking this way, but I love winter. Don't get me wrong there are certain things I love about all the seasons. Summer with its cheerfulness, I love the feeling of sun on my skin, the heat, going to the beach and eating ice cream. Autumn with its beauty, the orange and reds of the leaves. And Spring, with all the plants and flowers, the birds happily singing and the little baby lambs. But winter has a charm about it, an understated beauty and elegance. If only there wasn't so much rain!!

I love wrapping up warm in gloves and scarves, coats and boots......

I love being all cosy in the house with blankets, hot water bottles and slippers....

But most of all I love curling up beside the fire, with a good book and a cup of tea.....

I love the weekend. I love knowing I can get up at any time I wish. I love relaxing. But most of all I love hanging out with my friends.

Friday night I went round to my friends new flat, where we relaxed, chatted, played the wii and caught up with each others news. It was lovely. Then today I meet up with an old school friend who has just moved to Glasgow. It was so nice seeing her after so long. We went for lunch to have a major catch up and then I showed her some of my favourite places to go and see in the city. After all that we were so tired (and feet were so sore!) that we had to stop for a cup of tea, where we just watched the world go by. This is what I wore to meet her.

Today is one of my less busy days at uni, this week I was finished at 2. No doubt that will change as the term progresses and labs start back but this afternoon I am enjoying relaxing on the sofa with a cup of tea and watching a bit of TV and catching up on all your lovely blogs. I wanted to thank you, everyone, for to all your amazing comments and support following my last post. It means so much and you are all very sweet! There are so many people out there that know so much more about makeup than me, as I only ever really wear eye makeup but if you would like to see more I am happy to keep posting pictures!

I don't know the name of any of the eyeshadows that I have used unfortunately, as they all came from a pallette I got free when I bought some No 7 extravagant lashes mascara which Im wearing But I used the three lightest colours today. I'm also using No7 essential moisture (blonde) foundation and Rimmel Vinyl carat (star Asset) lipgoss.

A moment of calm....

I'm sitting here taking a wee break from work, with a relaxing cup of camomile and spearmint tea and thought it would be the perfect time for an update. This is the outfit I wore today, I just fancied something easy and comfortable so went for this big jumper dress and some studded leggings. Unfortunately I now have to take my photos myself, so these aren't too good, but I will work on it I promise!

I also just realised that I have never shared my love of eye makeup up with all of you, so I have decided today is the day! I love eye makeup. So today, I wore a No 7 pale silvery purple colour (unknown name as came from a unmarked palette) and MAC rusty orange colour , Barry M Kohl pencil (my personal favourite!!) and No7 extravagant lashes mascara.

So, its been agggeeeesss since my last post (well, over a week anyway!) And what a busy week its been I had to pack up my all my stuff, and say goodbye to my friends before I set sail across on Irish sea on Saturday to return to Glasgow for my final year in Uni. I'm now finally all settled in my new flat, have the internet set up and have started back to lectures again.

I thought I would show you the new home of my blog....my new desk! Which is already covered in work.

I have started to make my room, feel more like mine by adding a few of my favourite things. My cupcakes always have to be on my beside table, I have 3 candles and ceramic cupcake and a cupcake pin cushion here. As well as my sweetie jar.

A few of my favourtie recipe books have also found a new home, inbetween some of my favourite books and my text books.

The last thing I need to do, is hang a couple of things up on my wall, to make it really feel like home, including some pictures, a stencil, a piece of homemade felt and a small poster i picked up in a market in Amsterdamn.

Now, I have got all settled in hopefully my blogging will be back to normal! Can't wait to catch up with all your blogs and see whats been happening while I have been away! xo

Its Monday, the end of the weekend, start of a new week. Its actually my last week at home before I move back to Glasgow for my final year in University (eek!). How was your weekend? I had a really good weekend, on Friday I went to a fashion show with my sister, vik from magpie girl, in a giant tepee in the middle of the park, it was fantastic! I didn't get any photos but Vik will be doing a post on it later in the week, so check out her blog for all the photos!

Then on Saturday it was my friend's birthday, so we went out for dinner and then just relaxed at a friends house. This is the outfit I wore out for dinner on Saturday, I was feeling a wee bit 80s with this dress and all the gold jewellery!

The sea, sand and stars..

First of all, sorry about the lack of blogging this week! The weather was nice so I packed up and headed off to the beach again for the week with my friends. I spent my days at the beach body boarding and briefly attempting to surf..which I have to admit I wasn't very good at (my balance just isn't that good!). The night time we spent relaxing with a glass of wine and some tasty food or down at the beach watching the stars....and of course wishing on the shooting stars.

Secondly, I recieved my first award this week!! From my lovely big sis Vik of Magpie girl.

I'm going to follow in Viks foot steps and answer the questions she answered on her blog.

1) What is your drink of choice at the minute?
I personally don't think you can beat a good cup of tea (black with sugar for me!)

2) Last film you watched?
Talladega nights: The ballad of Ricky Bobby (I love Will Ferrell)

3) What are you wearing today?
Today I went for a pair of black leggings with a pale pink floral dress/ tunic, cream cardigan and some pearls.

4) Music you're currently listening to?
The song i'm listening to right now is Biffy Clyro- Christopher's river.

5) Favourite Magazine?
I love Look, it has a nice balance between gossip and high street fashion.

6) What book are you currently reading?
I just finished reading Breaking Dawn again, I seriously would read all the twilight saga books again and again. I'm trying not to start another book for a while as I have an exam coming up, but can't wait to start a new book after that..suggestions are welcome!

7) Current nail polish colour?
The seaside chipped my nails, so they are currently unpainted! Might paint them tomorrow, more than likely red or black.

Yesterday was my kind of day....

So, yesterday I had a good wee day. I managed to get some Uni work done in the morning before heading into town and (finally) getting my hair done. I decided I would like a wee bit of a change and went for a more silvery, icy white blonde colour this time.

Then last night my friends band was playing in one of my favourite bars in Belfast. The venue has such a cosy, friendly vibe about it and his music was amazing. This is the outfit I wore to the gig last night.

Oh! I do like to be beside the seaside...

I do like to be beside the sea...

As you might have guessed I'm back from my trip to the seaside. I had such a lovely and relaxing time. I ended up not doing much while I was there, just relaxed with my friends, walking along the beach, watching movies and playing the odd board game. It was brilliant.

I thought I would share a couple of the photos I took while I was away, to show you one of my favourite spots along the North coast of Northern Ireland. Unfortunately I kept forgetting to take my camera down to the actual beach with me! (so the top two were are taken out the window!)

I ended up having such a nice time that I'm going to head back for an other few days next week! So I can get my fill of sea air before I have to start back to University. xo

Hi there! I only have time to do a quick post today as this afternoon i'm packing up and heading to the seaside for a couple of days with a couple of friends! I love being beside the sea, I just find it so relaxing. Not too sure how long i will be away for maybe just a day or two but i'm looking forward to catching up with all your lovely blogs when I return.

Before I go I thought i would post a few pictures of the outfit I wore yesterday, these photos were all taken at the bottom of my garden....

Slightly Sunny days....

Its raining again today! So, I'm sitting inside, drinking lots and lots of tea and thought it was time I posted the second half of the photos I took with my lovely big sister on our slightly sunny saturday (as i promised in my first post). These photos are taken in one of the fields around our house...

The camera i'm holding isn't actually mine...its my sisters!

I'm wearing one of my favourite wee dresses at the minute, which is cream and has roses printed all over it.

I also want to say a big thank you to the lovely linaa of all my love who mentioned me in her top ten recommended blogs of the week! Thanks again! I recommend anyone reading this checks out her blog as well as its just gorgeous.

Girly days...

This Saturday I had a lovely girls day. Me and one of my friends got up early(ish) on Saturday morning and went into Belfast for a spot of shopping. It turned out to be one of those lovely days, when you see loads of really nice things. I ended up getting some new leggings and boots, which i will show you all soon!

After our successful shopping trip we packed up and headed back to my house were we made some cupcakes. I love cupcakes. This time we made 3 colour cupcakes, which had pink, cream and chocolate marbled cake and where topped with pink, cream and chocolate butter cream....and sprinkles!

As soon as the cupcakes were ready, we tucked in and watched some classic girly films. It was such a lovely girls day/night. How about you, whats your favourite way to spend a girls day? xo

Tea Parties and Cupcakes

So, me and my lovely big sister Vik (who also convinced me to start this blog) made the most of the sunshine over the weekend and decided to have a tea party. We dressed up, grabbed a blanket and headed out to the garden for a spot of tea. We ended up taking a few photos which i thought i would share with you...

I wore a strapless white dress which has a cartoon/comic book print on it, which i teamed with some black lace leggings and a gold necklace. While Vik wore a gorgeous pink dress and white lace tights.
We ended up having such a nice afternoon soaking up what little sun there was that we decided to have another mini photo shoot in a different outfit. I will post the pictures from the rest of the afternoon in my next post....xo
